The importance of planning for intentional teaching and assessment in a play-based classroom

“This course should be mandatory for all teachers.

If you have any queries about play based learning, or feeling like it’s just too daunting, this course gives you a clear direction, and makes it seem possible and oh so necessary.

If you can get any senior management to do the course, they present it in such a professional manner it may be what they need to be convinced!”

Kate W, Henderson Valley Primary

Following on from the popular ‘PIay-Based Learning for the Junior Classroom’ series this workshop is aimed at those facilitating learning in a pIay-based classroom environment.

This workshop will enable teachers to:

  • Examine the role of the teacher in provoking authentic play in the student—centred classroom environment
  • Discuss and practice key strategies for scaffolding children’s learning through play
  • Work with experienced facilitators to understand how to identify the
learning occurring through authentic play opportunities
  • Practice (with support) the ways to document learning observed
