The Role of the Teacher
Under the New Zealand Covid Protection Red Light Framework Level, we are not offering face-to-face workshops at this time. Please see information below about how to engage with our online learning content.
“This course should be mandatory for all teachers.
If you have any queries about play based learning, or feeling like it’s just too daunting, this course gives you a clear direction, and makes it seem possible and oh so necessary.
If you can get any senior management to do the course, they present it in such a professional manner it may be what they need to be convinced!”
Kate W, Henderson Valley Primary
Following on from the popular ‘PIay-Based Learning for the Junior Classroom’ series this workshop is aimed at those facilitating learning in a pIay-based classroom environment.
This workshop will enable teachers to:
- Examine the role of the teacher in provoking authentic play in the student-centered classroom environment
- Discuss and practice key strategies for scaffolding, planning for, and responding to learning through play
- Work with experienced Dr. Sarah Aiono to understand how to identify the learning occurring through authentic play opportunities
- Understand what is an effective play-based primary classroom context, and what is not.
