Senior School Sector
Bachelor of Arts & Teaching
New Zealand Registered Teacher
Dr Vince Ham eFellow 2018
Bevan is an ex-secondary school English teacher and HOD who, increasingly dispirited with the college experience of many students, explored the use of play in secondary school. He was awarded a fellowship by CORE Education to research that topic. What he found made him more and more convinced that play is a relevant pedagogy for learners of all ages.
Bevan has written about play in the context of a Year 11 English class for NZCER’s SET journal (December 2018), and his work with learning stories in a secondary classroom is included in Guy Claxton’s new book, ‘Powering Up Students – The Learning Approach to Secondary Teaching’.
