Gina has taught across lower and middle primary levels with a particular interest in transition to school. She currently teaches at Ako, a small alternative school in Auckland. In 2020, Gina led a Teacher Led Innovation Fund project on nature based learning in an urban context and explored student agency, curiosity and engagement. She is continuing her studies on student agency as a PhD candidate at Auckland University of Technology.
